Answering-Ansar’s deception in trying to prove Imamate from Quran

Answering-Ansar says:

The Qur’an confirms that the divine rank of Imamate is superior to the divine rank of Prophethood

Hadhrat Ibraheem (as) was initially given the designation of Prophet of Allah (swt) and whilst in this position was tried by Allah (swt) with certain commands, leading to Allah (swt) stating:

[YUSUFALI 2:124] And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: He said: “I will make thee an Imam to the Nations.” He pleaded: “And also (Imams) from my offspring!” He answered: “But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers.”

This divine verse tells us that the rank of Imamate is superior to that of Prophethood, because Hadhrat Ibrahim (as) was a Prophet (s) but was further tested by Allah during his prophethood, and when he successfully passed the tests (which were the test on his life, leaving his wife, sacrificing his son), he was granted the position of Imamat. The Imamate of Ibrahim (as) was connected directly to the manner in which he had confronted the tests and trials of prophethood. After he had displayed his strength by passing through all those stages, God revealed to him that he was to be further honored with the lofty office of Imamate, with responsibility for the inner guidance of mankind, the refinement of their souls, the maturing of their spiritual capacities, and, in general, the preservation of the truth.

The Answering-Ansar has tried to use this verse to show that Imams are superior to Prophets. The Shiites have this belief that their twelve Imams are superior to everyone except Prophet Muhammad (s). But actually everyone who has little sense, can understand the problem with how they deal with this verse. First of all, it refutes their belief that their 12 imams are superior to all prophets except Prophet Muhammad (s). Because this verse is telling us that Abraham was also an Imam. Other verses tells us that Lut , Isaac and Jacob were also Imams. Read 21-66 to 21-73

[021:073]  And We made them leaders (ائمة – Aimma – plural of Imam) , guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).

(Yusuf Ali Translation)

Similarly , there were Aimmas from the children of Israel also.

[032:023]  We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel.

[032:024]  And We appointed, from among them, leaders (Aimmas), giving guidance under Our command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs.

Now they all have a superiority over the 12 imams of Shiites. They are Prophets as well as Imams. But the 12 Imams of Shiites are only Imams, and not Prophets. Their concept of Imamate actually fails in the very verse in which they try to to prove it.

The Holy Quran also says:

‏38:26 ياداؤود انا جعلنك خليفة في الارض فاحكم بين الناس بالحق ولاتتبع الهوى فيضلك عن سبيل الله ان الذين يضلون عن سبيل الله لهم عذاب شديد بما نسوا يوم الحساب

[038:026]  O David! We did indeed make thee a vicegerent (the word used here is Khalifa) on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of God: for those who wander astray from the Path of God, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.

(Yusuf Ali Translation)

Now our question to Shiites is, does it prove that  Caliphate is superior to the Prophethood also? The fact is that Imamate concept of the Shiites is completely unfounded in the Holy Quran, they tamper with verses in extremely absurd way, more absurd than a person using this verse to say that Yazeed was a blessing of Allah.

‏42:26 ويستجيب الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات ويزيدهم من فضله والكافرون لهم عذاب شديد

[042:026]  Wayastajeebu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waalkafiroona lahum AAathabun shadeedun

May Allah protect us from tampering with the Holy Quran. Amin.
